History of KIKO Solutions

Founding & early the early years

Company is founded

Computing for me has always been about helping people and for years my career has been focused on being a civil servant. Outside of this career (which I still do) I found my computer skills could be useful in helping executives in a variety of roles. Typical goals was teaching managers to query databases, write reports and help coach producing material for their intended audience. My work at this time was focused on the insurance and financial sectors.

Coaching

This happened by accident from providing tuition. I was able to show the skills and experience I had gained and the tuition grew into providing executives with coaching to produce reports and research material. This would involve how to write queries for databases to understanding your audience.

Ms Office training

Part of the service I offered was to understand company processes and help develop documents and spreadsheets which supported the business so they would be more efficient and confident in the data they were producing.

Tuition

All the work has been rewarding but tuition was one of the most fulfilling. Teaching people to do new things is hard unless you can encourage and empower the customer to be adventurous, trying new skills and not worrying about mistakes. My work was focused on accepting mistakes are a normal part of the learning process.

Web Design and the start of something new

Adobe Flash as king, long live the king!

As Google shot to dominance, one platform dominated at the time, which was Adobe Flash. HTML (the coding of a webpage) was still pretty limited. Flash offered a way to design a site which included various forms of media and it was accessible for people to use. However, it couldn’t be indexed by Google and with lots of security issues, Flash fell out of favour. This meant sites needed converting to HTML. I helped meet the demand with a few clients who requested the service.

Web Design and WordPress

Our favoured platform is WordPress and using CMS software.

I won’t deny business has grown slowly with the main reason being, having a focus on my civil service career. I try to manage a work life balance which works for me but I also want to be sure any work I take on, I can complete and commit to providing the expected service I have promised.
